What it is
The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) is a private
nonprofit organization devoted to all aspects of reproductive
health. It has more than 10,500 members, including doctors, scientists,
and other allied health professionals from all states and 105
foreign countries.
What the American Society for Reproductive Medicine offers
Members receive the monthly medical journal, Fertility and Sterility,
free educational brochures, a list of recommended books and articles,
and guidelines on all areas of reproductive health — including
ethical guidelines for fertility procedures. Although the organization
is primarily for medical professionals, anyone can buy the brochures
and books. Brochures — available for $1 each — cover
topics such as:
• Abnormal bleeding
• Adoption
• Ectopic pregnancy
• Endometriosis
• In vitro fertilization (IVF) and Gamete Intrafallopian
Transfer (GIFT): A guide to assisted reproductive technologies
(ART)
• Male fertility problems and vasectomy reversal
• Miscarriage
• Ovulation detection
• Premenstrual syndrome
• Third party reproduction
• Tubal factor fertility problems
Some of these pamphlets are also available in Spanish.
The ASRM can also provide statistics from programs offering assisted
reproductive treatments (ART).
