Resource: RESOLVE
By the BabyCenter editorial staff
What it is
RESOLVE is a national education, advocacy, and support network
devoted to fertility problems. Its mission is to offer support,
compassion, and information to individuals by increasing awareness
of fertility issues. It provides information through public education
and advocacy.
What RESOLVE offers
A membership to RESOLVE costs $45 a year and provides an array
of benefits, including: A quarterly newsletter, featuring the
latest medical treatments and research topics; discounts on literature;
physician referrals; and local chapter listings and memberships.
RESOLVE also provides two unique phone services. The first helpline
— for members only — is staffed by individuals who've
resolved their fertility problems either by adopting, giving birth,
or opting to remain childless. Callers find referrals, support,
or simply the opportunity to talk to someone who's been through
it and survived.
The second service, Medical HelpLine, allows callers to discuss
their personal treatment plans with RESOLVE's own registered nurse,
who helps them come up with a list of questions to ask their healthcare
providers.
Nonmembers can order starter kits, books, and individual fact
sheets. Fact sheets cover a range of topics, including adoption,
alternative treatments, coping and self-help tips, endometriosis,
assisted reproductive technologies (ART), male fertility problems,
and miscarriage. Booklets are also available on topics such as
donor insemination and environmental toxins and fertility.
